Scholarship Recipients : The Class of 2004 was the first class to
receive The Jimmy Marvin Memorial Scholarship. Five scholarship were
awarded our first year. This scholarship is a five year renewable
scholarship, and we are proud to say all our young men and women are still
eligible and receiving scholarship funds. We are very proud of each and
everyone of these kids !!
2005 Scholarship
Recipients: Our second annual Jimmy Marvin Spring Into Life Benefit
was a held on March 18, 2005, and was a huge success. Due to the
success of the benefit we were able to give out seven awards. The Class
of 2005 had a great selection of applicants from which we chose these young
men and women.
2006 Scholarship
Recipients:
Our third annual benefit was bigger and better than
ever. The guests enjoyed the sounds of The Teen Angels, and a new
location, the United Food & Commercial
Workers Hall in Madison Hts.
Happy to say it was a success and we were able to award eleven scholarships to
The Class of 2006.
2007 Scholarship
Recipients:
In 2007 our benefit
was another huge success raising over $30,000.00. The generosity of the
community and businesses in Oakland County helped us achieve our goal. The
Class of 2007 was another great bunch of young men and women well
deserving of this scholarship. Eleven scholarships were awarded on May 21,
2007 for over $8,500.00. The total in 2007 including renewed scholarships
came to over $25,000.00. The Jimmy Marvin Memorial Scholarship in
the past four year has given out over $61,000.00.
2008 Scholarship Recipients: 2008
Benefit was a large success due to the many local businesses, and
people who gave generously to our benefit. Eight scholarships were given
to the class of 2008 . In 2008 we gave out 32 scholarships totaling
over $25,000.00. The Jimmy Marvin scholarship committee would like to wish
the graduates of 2008 great success !
2009 Scholarship
Recipients: In 2009 our Spring Into Life Benefit raised $18,000.00. With
the economy down and Michigan State basketball team playing in the finals the
night of our benefit our profits were down 30 percent. This year we picked
five great seniors from Clawson's Class of 2009. This year we will be
giving out over 40 scholarships dating back to the Class of 2005. Some
scholarship recipients will receive reduced amounts due to the drop in
donations. Hopefully the 2010 benefit will have greater success. We had
many applicants for this scholarship and we feel bad we couldn't help more this
year, but congratulations to all of the Class of 2009.
2010
Scholarship Recipients:
Our 2010 Spring Into Life Benefit raised $27,900.00 and with a successful
Clawson Pub Crawl in 2009 we raised an additional $1,400.00. This year we
had 15 applicants for our scholarship. We awarded 8 to the Class of 2010
and will renew 30 to past scholarship recipients. The Jimmy Marvin
scholarship committee would like to wish the graduates of 2010 great success !
